Who uses your cars, and when.
Lend your car without it turning into a problem.
They get a link, use the car and return it from their phone. Nothing to install, no account to create, no access to yours. You know who had it, when, and how they left it.
With one or two vehicles, free. And it is not a trial.
Kocheras does not insure your car, does not track it, and is not a lock.
We are not insurance. Whoever drives your car is covered by your policy or they are not, and that is for your insurer to say, not us. What we do is keep a record of who had the car; that settles a fine, not a claim.
There is no GPS and we do not open doors. We do not know where your car is or where it has been; only who you lent it to and what they logged on return. And if the keys are in the drawer, anyone can take them: what we do is put the loan in writing, in plain sight.
The moment
They ask you on a Saturday morning.
Your brother-in-law is moving house. Your neighbour's car is at the garage. Your son is off on a trip with friends. You say yes, because you would say yes anyway.
What comes next is the tiring part: you do not know what time it comes back, it returns with less fuel than it left with, and three weeks later a fine arrives for a day when you were not the one driving.
Lending the car is not the problem. The problem is that nothing is written down.
How it works
Three steps, and two of them are theirs.
You lend it
You pick the car, the window and the person. Their name and email is enough.
They get a link
They open it on their phone and see what they need to know: which car, until when, and how to return it. Nothing to install, no account to create.
They return it
From that same page they log the mileage, how they are leaving the tank, where they parked it and, if there is a scrape, a photo.
The link is good for that loan and that window. It does not open your car, it does not reach your account, and it is no use for the next one.
What is on record
The day a fine arrives, you will know who had the car.
Every loan leaves a record: who, which vehicle, from when to when, the mileage on return and the state it came back in. That is not paperwork: it is the difference between settling something in a minute and arguing about it from memory.
If the fine is from the 3rd at 19:42, there it is: who had the car.
And if your guest later creates an account with the same email, their loans show up in their history. To look at, only: it gives them no access to any vehicle.
We keep the minimum about your guest, and not forever.
To lend them the car we need their name and email: without those there is nobody to send the link to and no record to keep. If they never create an account, those two details are deleted automatically after 18 months. And if they want them gone sooner, they only have to write to us.
Questions
What everyone asks before handing over the keys.
Can I lend the car to someone who does not have the app?
Yes, and that is exactly what this is for. Your guest installs nothing and creates no account: they open a link on their phone and from there they see the loan and return the car.
What if they get a fine while they have it?
The fine goes to the registered keeper, as always. What changes is that you can check the date and time and see who had the car at that moment, which is what you will be asked for.
Does my insurance cover whoever drives my car?
That is what your policy says, and it is worth reading before you lend it. Kocheras insures nothing and will not pretend otherwise.
Do you know where my car is while it is lent out?
No. Kocheras has no GPS, does not track the vehicle and does not store routes.
How much does lending the car cost?
Nothing extra. With one or two vehicles Kocheras is free forever, and lending is included.
How many times can I lend it?
As many as you like, to whoever you like. Each loan is its own link, with its own window.
What if they do not bring it back on time?
The same as without the app, except you find out: the loan has an end time and you can see it has not been closed. Kocheras does not immobilise cars.
Next time they ask, it is already sorted.
Two vehicles free. No card. You create the account, add the car, and you can lend it: whoever receives it has nothing to install.
