Nobody gets into your car inside the app without you approving it, and there is a record of who had it at any given hour. Before you share it, ask your insurer who is allowed to drive it.

Registration plate and your house rules: whether you have to approve, and whether returning it asks for mileage, fuel and a photo.
Invite your people
By email or with a code, with no limit on people. You decide who can book and who can invite others.

If the slot clashes with someone else's, the app stops them. Without asking you anything.
You can give someone access for one weekend and take it away on Monday, with no awkward conversation.

What gets recorded
The day a fine arrives, you'll know whose turn it was.
It protects whoever lends the car and whoever borrows it: what was written down isn't up for debate afterwards.
Who had it and at what time
If the fine is from the 3rd at 19:42, the record shows whose turn that was. It's there to clear things up in a minute, not to point fingers.
Mileage and fuel
Logged on return and visible to the whole household. Mileage is worked out automatically by subtracting the readings.
Photos and dents
If you make photos compulsory, a turn can't be closed without one. Compare two consecutive turns and you can see between which ones the dent appeared.
Who owes whom
Fuel and car washes are split by mileage or equally, and the app keeps everyone's balance.
Kocheras records what happened. It doesn't certify anything to the traffic authorities and it doesn't replace an accident report.

No vehicle is deleted and nobody loses access. The only thing you lose is the ability to add new vehicles.

By card at kocheras.app. Nothing is sold inside the mobile app, because the stores forbid it outside the United States.

The usual questions, answered.
Is it really free?
With one or two vehicles, yes, and forever: turns, permissions, history, photos and expense splitting, with as many people as you like.
From the third vehicle on it's €3 + VAT a month or €30 + VAT a year for each extra one. Whichever tax applies is added at checkout, based on where you are registered.
What happens if a fine arrives?
The fine goes to the car's registered keeper, as always. What changes is that you can check the date and time and see whose turn it was at that moment.
Kocheras doesn't file anything with the traffic authorities and doesn't certify who was driving. It gives you the fact so there's no argument at home.
Who pays for fuel?
Whoever you decide. Each fill-up is logged with the amount and who paid, and it's split by mileage or equally. The app keeps the balance and says who owes whom.
Kocheras doesn't move money, it just keeps the tally.
My son has just passed his test, can he drive?
As far as Kocheras is concerned, yes: you give him access and he books like anyone else. As far as your insurer is concerned, it depends on the policy, and that's the question to ask first.
Plenty of policies exclude under-25s or licences less than two years old, and others cover it for a surcharge. Call your insurer and ask about occasional drivers and the minimum age.
Do you know where the car is or where it's been?
No. Kocheras has no GPS, doesn't locate the vehicle and doesn't store routes. It only knows which turn each person booked and the mileage when they brought it back.
We say so because it's the first thing anyone using the car asks, and rightly so: organising yourselves is one thing, being tracked is another.
What if my daughter lends it to a friend?
No app can stop that and we won't pretend otherwise. What Kocheras does is put the turn in her name: if something happens during that slot, there's no doubt who the car was lent to.
You can take her access away at any time, without explaining yourself, and the history of what already happened isn't deleted.
What if a dent appears and nobody says anything?
If you turn on the compulsory return photo, every turn closes with a timestamped image of the car's condition. Compare two consecutive turns and you can see between which ones it appeared.
It won't stand up as an insurance assessment, and we don't sell it as one. It tells you which two days it appeared between.
What does everyone else have to install?
They get a link by email or a code, open kocheras.app on their phone and they can book. From the browser it can be added to the home screen and behaves like a normal app.
You don't need to search for anything, but it's also on Google Play, for anyone who prefers it that way.
What if someone at home isn't good with apps?
It's designed for that person, not for whoever sets the whole thing up. Booking is three taps and there's nothing else to learn.
